The bride\u2019s mother and grandmother welcomes the groom to the Mandap (wedding altar) amongst music and showering of rose petals by guests<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Marriage Ceremony 5:00 PM<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ganesh Pujan: Offering of prayer to Lord Ganesh &#8211; <\/strong> Prayer ceremony is performed for auspicious beginning of the ceremony<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Kanya Agaman: Arrival of the bride &#8211; <\/strong> The bride is led to the Mandap by her friends and is greeted by the groom\u2019s family<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Jaimala: Garland Exchange &#8211;<\/strong> Bride and groom exchange flower garlands signifying their acceptance of each other<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Shani Pujan: Offering of prayer to Lord Ganesh &#8211; <\/strong>Prayer ceremony is performed with the bride for removal of all obstacles to a happy marriage<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Kanyadaan &amp; Pani Grahan &#8211;<\/strong> Bride\u2019s mother places her hand into the hands of the groom to signify offering her hand in marriage. Holding hands, the bride and groom accept each other<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Granthi Bandhan: Tying the Knot &#8211;<\/strong> A pink cloth is place over the bride and groom and a knot is tied between them to signify their union<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Agni Puja: Invoking the Sacred Fire \u2013<\/strong> Invocation of the sacred fire symbolizing the illumination of mind, knowledge and happiness. Offerings of ghee (clarified butter) and rice are made to the fire<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mangal Phera: The Seven Vows &#8211;<\/strong> The couple walks around the fire seven times to signify seven blessings in their journey through life: Livelihood, prosperity, strength, happiness, loyalty, harmony and life-long friendship. The groom\u00a0leads\u00a0 the first four\u00a0pheras and the bride leads\u00a0the last three<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sindoor: Applying the Vermillion<\/strong> &#8211; The groom applies a small dot of a red powder called sindoor on the bride\u2019s hair welcoming her as his partner for life and signifying her status as a married woman<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Exchanging Rings &#8211;<\/strong> The bride and groom exchange rings symbolizing devotion to each other through all times<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ashirwaad: Blessings &#8211;<\/strong>The couple seeks blessing from the priest, their families and friends<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Reception 6:30 PM<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Food, drinks and cake followed by followed by music,dancing and henna. A henna artist will be at hand.
